Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova) and Colby Carter.Her father is of English and Scots-Irish origin, and her mother of a family that hails from Mexico she is of Mexican, Spanish, and French descent. Carter is the younger sister of Vincent and a brother and Pamela as a sister. Carter was five years old when she made her TV debut on Lew Kings Talent Show. In high school, Carter played in a group called Just Us. The group used marimba, conga drums, an acoustic and stand-up basses. One girl from the group was also a guitarist. When she was 15, Lynda began singing at the local pizza restaurant to earn money. She joined her cousins' group, The Relatives, when she was sixteen. The band's drummer was Gary Burghoff, an actor. The group opened in the Sahara Hotel and Casino lounge in Las Vegas for three months since Carter was not 21 she must have entered through the kitchen.Carter went to Arizona State University. After being awarded "Most gifted" and deciding to leave the school to pursue music as a profession. In the year 1970, Carter auditioned and then sang on the road with The Garfin Gathering and bandleader Howard (Speedy) Garfin. Their first concert together was held at Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel that had no sidewalk access. They played mostly to the hotel staff and hotel guests who left their automobiles in the underground garage. The Garfin Gathering performed shows throughout the Nevada "Silver Circuit" which included in a number of Nevada's casinos. Carter had to quit the Garfin Gathering to pursue acting in 1972 and returned to Arizona.
