Julie London

JulieJulie London (nee Peck; September 26, 1926 - October 18 1999) was an American actress and performer who toured for more than 40 years. London was a torch performer and was well-known for her soft, smooth vocals. She recorded more than 30 albums of pop and jazz songs from 1955 until 1969. Her performance of "Cry me a river" which she released on her debut album was admitted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. Alongside her music-related recognition, London was nominated for an Golden Globe Award in 1974 in her role as nurse Dixie McCall in the television series Emergency!. London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. Her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's acting career of 35 years began with film in 1944. It featured roles as the female lead in several westerns. In the mid-50s, she signed a recording deal with Liberty Records. This was the beginning of her professional career. The final album of her studio was released in 1969. She continued her success as the female lead in the role of Dixie McCall on the television show Emergency! (1972-1979) In the show, she co-starred with husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb produced the show.
